Pet Peeves...

So, I always find it interesting to know people's "pet peeves." It is especially good to know the pet peeves of those you spend the most time with, to avoid doing those things in their presence! I can only recall a few things that really get on my nerves. One is when I am pumping gas and as I lift the pump out of my gas tank, there is still gas dripping from the pump. It annoys me SOOO much!!!!! I paid for that gas AND who wants their hands to smell like gas b/c it was dripping from the pump??!! People who drive incredibly slow also make the list-I think everyone has that pet peeve. When you go to a restaurant and they no longer carry one of your favorite items...
Ok and here is a loaded one...proceed with caution. It really bothers me when people say, "You know they are Catholic..." Like they are not Christians. They believe in Christ, the trinity and salvation. Sure to Evangelical Christians they have some rituals and ways of doing things that seem foreign, but that does not mean they do not love God. Every denomination in Christianity has put in their own two cents about how we should live our lives as Christians. No one denomination is completely right. I think as long as we are all out to find the truth and serve the Lord that is what He sees. I could go on about this for a LONG time. My husband hears about it all the time. I guess I want people to see GOD and not religion and rituals. I'm sure a blog is not the best place to discuss religious or political passions or views, but I can't help myself sometimes. It's hard for me to get in these discussions with many people because I am not an argumentative, confrontational person, so I usually avoid talking about these issues all together. But some of this stuff gets bottled up and you have to let it out!!!!
So what are your pet peeves???!!! I really want to know! =)

You know I can't resist a discussion, so I guess I'm gonna be one of your pet peeves today!
I think your conception of Catholicism is a little off. They do not believe in salvation by faith alone, it is always accompanied by some form of works. They believe Baptism is part of salvation and not just a demonstration of it.
Yes, they believe in Christ, but not in the same way that Christians do. They believe in praying to Mary to get to God. To paraphrase the verse, there is but one mediator between God and Man, Christ Jesus. (I verified all this info from a Pro-Catholic website stating what they believe.)
I don't believe that there is only one religion, but I do believe there is only one way to God and salvation. I do not believe that we should be hateful to people of other religions, that is not my point at all, I just think that there has to be a line somewhere of what is truth and what is not.
I know that the purpose of your post was not for me to disagree with your pet peeve, but I guess I just can't back down from a discussion. :)
As to my pet peeves... My Mom has this thing where she'll open up a can of Pepsi to pour it into a glass with ice and basically dumps it in as fast as humanly possible thereby killing all the carbonation and taste. I know this has to be the stupidest pet peeve ever, but it really drives me crazy! :) Another pet peeve is when people don't re-read their emails or posts and there are A LOT of spelling/typo errors. It just seems really lazy to me.
Okay, so now that I've offended everyone, I guess I'll go!
We seriously need to hang out more soon! :)
Love ya!
I was actually thinking about this as I lay in bed this morning. I agree with you wholeheartedly. It is true that Catholics go through a priest and I guess I forgot about the whole "hail Mary" thing. You have made a valid point.
I guess what my pet peeve actually is, what you were saying, people who are hateful to other denominations and even religions. That is NOT how we are going to get anyone to Christ.
I also know and agree with you that there is only one way to God and salvation and that is through Jesus Christ.
I was a little careless in writing this post. I have a person in my life that always talks about Catholic people like they are the worst people ever and it is really offensive. (No, they don't read this blog!!!!)
Anyway, I agree with hanging out more. I will see what I have to work next week and I will let you know!
love ya!

not to be all "middle of the road" about it. but i really see both sides...
i agree with b.a. that you have to stand for something (or you'll fall for anything?). and you have to draw the lines of your beliefs.
however, i'm with heather on the Catholicism thing. they call themselves Christians. so who am i to say they're not Christians. only god knows your heart. it's not up to us to judge or even wonder about another person's afterlife.

so anyway...
here's my pet peeves:
one of my biggest things recently has been friends who claim they miss you and they never get to see you. but will only talk to you or hang with you on their terms. when they are in the mood. or when its convenient for them.
"news" media and social/political groups that get wrapped around the axle over a public figure using a wrong word or some semantics instead of listening to the intended message.
SOOOO Glad that you don't hate me! I was really worried that I hadn't heard from you in a hot 5 and that you were really pissed off! I definitely want to hang out on Tuesday and actually invited Susanna (Sam's cousin) to hang out too if she wants too. Hope you don't mind!
Love ya!
Wow, this has been very intertaining, exciting, and educational. I have a lot of pet peevs, too many to list, but here are a couple that are fresh in my mind. People how ask you for something or a favor and when you say no they treat you like you just slapped them in the face. Homeless people. People who think because you have that you need to give. Like my iPod and laptop that everyone wants to use. Sorry I'm done.
